Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to the feet (and hands) covering a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the soles of your feet. This works by effecting a physical reaction on internal organs and relaxing any imbalances that may be present.
Reflexology works as the pressure techniques applied, interact as a part of the body's nervous system, creating relaxation and improved circulation. The manipulation to the nervous system sends messages around the body's organs to promote correct functioning and self healing, creating a balance.
Pressure sensors in the feet are part of the body's reflexive response that makes possible the 'fight or flight' reaction to danger; but it is a gentle complimentary therapy that releases all tensions and stresses in the body.
Reflexologists do not claim to cure specific illnesses, but to encourage the body's own healing mechanisms to restore the body's natural equilibrium. Reflexology works on a physical and psychological level so has many benefits.

This begins with a consultation to discuss health and objectives relating to the treatment. Lying down on the couch with socks and shoes removed and lower leg uncovered (trousers rolled up). The feet are then checked for any verrucas or fungal infections that would prevent the treatment taking place. They are then hygienically wiped and non-perfumed talcum powder is rubbed on as the feet are gently relaxed and covered with a towel. Each foot is then mapped by firm 'pressure walking' technique, covering all areas of the foot. When the mapping of one foot is complete, gentle manipulative massage will be done on congested areas and then a repeat procedure on the other foot. Completion of the treatment finishes with a gentle leg and foot massage.
A drink of water will be offered at the end of the treatment.
